I was cleaning the cabinet under the sink one day and noticed just how much filthy it was; there was just so much work to be done, that wiping it alone wouldn’t help much, it needed to be remodeled.
Have you ever been through your day stuck up on tasks that need to be marked? There’s just so much chaos, that you needed to do it right away.
This is much like volunteering. One moment you’re inspired to help, and the next day you see stones being thrown at you and yes, that’s what they call character building. Pessimism? Well this is reality.
THAT’S WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT!
Give. Share. Feed.
But no matter how hard you try, you can never satisfy yourself or others because true satisfaction is submitting to God’s purpose in your life alone.
Yeah, we get frustrated, weary, angry and all these whirlwind of emotions, but if you think you will be the one who to make the change, then you just might be thrown overboard into a sea of desperation and despair.
So many things to do, so busy cleaning up just like the mess from the kitchen cabinet under the sink, that’s what we go through most of the time.
It can take forever, but if you know you’re loving and growing into that role no matter what life throws at you, then it’s a Calling.
A Calling is not limited to a religious pursuit, it’s not something you decided on yourself either, but it’s a strong conviction from the Word of God that this is what He wants you to do. Sometimes we misunderstand this context. At times, we force our own dreams and use God’s Word to support it when it should be the other way around.
How can God use us if we have not totally surrendered our lives to Him?
Mark 8:34-38, ESV says, “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
God doesn’t require us to just follow in His ways, He wants us to be bold in following His Word. We can do a lot of good things and be of great help to people, but if we fail to recognize God’s plan in our life and walk in it, we will be rejected on the day when Jesus comes again to bring judgment into the world.
1 Corinthains 10:18-22, ESV “Consider the people of Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar? What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?”
You can’t choose both, we can’t serve two masters. It’s either we follow God and give up our fleshly desires or follow the devil and be on our way to the path of destruction.
How is this connected to our Calling?
We were designed to serve our King, to be an instrument of love, to be used by Him to glorify him alone.
Examine your dreams, are they glorifying God in any way or have they been above our Calling as Children of God? Where does all your time go? To an idol or to God? Examine your heart carefully.
Mark 10:21,ESV “And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
